How to record Samsung DeX on a Mac
By Austin Hunter ·
Short answer
With Deskbridge, Samsung DeX opens in a window on your Mac. Deskbridge Pro ($5 a year, on top of the $12 Deskbridge license) adds one-click recording: choose Start Recording in the Deskbridge menu or press ⌥⇧⌘R, and the MP4 is saved to Movies › Deskbridge when you stop.
Steps
- Install Deskbridge (1.5 or later) and connect your Galaxy phone so DeX opens in a Mac window.
- Add Deskbridge Pro and activate the key in Deskbridge.
- Choose Start Recording in the Deskbridge menu, or press ⌥⇧⌘R.
- Use DeX as normal; a small bar shows the recording time.
- Choose Stop Recording. The MP4 is in your Movies › Deskbridge folder.
What it's good for
Tutorials and how-to videos, demos of Android apps running in DeX, and bug reports you can send to a developer. DeX keeps running while you record.
Without Pro
Deskbridge's $12 license keeps every core feature without Pro: DeX in a Mac window, your Mac's keyboard and trackpad, notifications, calls and more. Pro is an optional add-on for extra tools like recording and more display sizes.
