Email support@elcodev.com and a real person will get back to you, usually within a day. Tell us your phone model, your macOS version and what you’re seeing. Most problems are covered below.

My phone isn’t detected

  • Make sure USB debugging is on — follow the one-time setup.
  • Unlock your phone and look for Allow USB debugging?. Tick Always allow from this computer and tap Allow. If you don’t see it, unplug and plug back in.
  • Try a different cable. Some cables only charge and can’t carry data.

DeX doesn’t start — I just see my phone screen

The full DeX desktop needs a Samsung Galaxy phone running One UI 8 or later. Check Settings › About phone › Software information › One UI version. On other phones, Deskbridge mirrors your phone’s screen instead.

DeX froze or went blank

Your phone probably went to sleep — for example, after a press of its power button. DeX pauses while the phone sleeps; Deskbridge wakes the phone and switches on Blackout to get DeX going again. To keep the phone dark without any pause, use Blackout from the Deskbridge menu instead of the power button.

If DeX’s dock shows only small back/home buttons with no apps or clock, your phone is locked — unlock it and the full dock comes back. (Deskbridge’s menu warns you when the phone is locked.) You don’t have to pick the phone up: choose Unlock Phone… in the Deskbridge menu (⌥⌘U) and type your PIN or password on your Mac. Deskbridge types it on the phone and never stores it. (Pattern lock? Touch the fingerprint sensor instead.) While it’s locked, ⌘H goes home, ⌘B goes back and ⌘S shows recent apps.

Everything looks too small or too big

In the Deskbridge menu, change Display Size (match my Mac’s display, 1080p, 1440p or 4K) or Text Size (smaller, default or larger).

Wireless stopped working

Wireless connections end when your phone restarts. Plug in once, or pair again from Developer options › Wireless debugging › Pair device with pairing code. Your phone and Mac must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

Calls, notifications and app windows

Calls: Show Incoming Calls on Mac is on by default for regular phone calls. For WhatsApp and other app calls, also turn on Include WhatsApp & Other App Calls — that lets Deskbridge’s phone helper see call notifications. Answer and Decline on the banner press the same buttons on your phone; the call itself stays on your phone.

Notifications: turn on Show Phone Notifications on Mac, and allow Deskbridge in your Mac’s System Settings › Notifications if you said no earlier.

App windows: choose Open App in Window… (⌥⌘O) and type an app’s name. Recently opened apps are one click away under Recent App Windows. In macOS Shortcuts, open the URL deskbridge://open-app?pkg=com.whatsapp&name=WhatsApp to pop an app open.

Do Not Disturb: turn on Silence Phone While DeX Is Open. Your phone goes to priority-only while DeX runs, and back to normal when you close DeX or unplug.

Secure Blackout and the lock screen

DeX shows its full dock only while your phone is unlocked. So during Blackout, your phone stays unlocked behind a fully black screen — and locks the instant anyone touches it, unplugs it, or you close DeX. To do that, Deskbridge’s small phone helper is allowed to lock your phone (that is the only permission it has). You can turn this off in your phone’s Settings › Security › Device admin apps; without it, Blackout leaves your phone locked and DeX shows a smaller dock.

To uninstall the helper, turn off its device-admin permission there first, then uninstall “Deskbridge” from your phone’s apps.

No sound on my Mac

Sound forwarding needs Android 11 or later. Check that Play Phone Audio on Mac is ticked in the Deskbridge menu and that your Mac’s output volume is up.
