Apps and websites for nonprofits

Nonprofits need software that works for everyone they serve, on a budget that has to be justified to a board or a funder. We build apps and websites with accessibility and plain language from the start, scope the work in phases you can fund, and put everything in accounts your organization owns.

What's included

  • Mobile apps for iOS and Android, plus a mobile web version for people who won't install an app
  • Accessible websites (WCAG 2.2 AA) that staff can update without a developer
  • Phased scopes: a focused first release, then additions as funding allows
  • Consent-based text messages, reminders and push notifications
  • Donation, newsletter and event integrations with the tools you already use
  • Code, data, domains and store listings owned by your organization, with no license fees from us

How it works

  1. 01Free consultation. A 30-minute call about what you want to build, who it's for and what matters most.
  2. 02Scope and quote. A clear plan with the features, timeline and price, so you know what you're getting before we start.
  3. 03Design and build. Short cycles with working builds you can try and regular progress updates along the way.
  4. 04Launch and grow. Store submission or go-live, then analytics, subscriptions and improvements, the same way we run our own apps.

Common questions

What have you built that's relevant to nonprofits?

Our own apps serve communities more than customers. Liturgical Living is a free Catholic prayer app with no ads, native on iOS and Android, with a full accessibility overhaul (scalable text, VoiceOver and TalkBack) and a 700+ page website generated from the same content. Crohn's Food Tracker was built by an IBD patient for people managing a chronic illness, and it has been on the App Store since 2017.

Can you work within a grant or a fixed budget?

Yes. We quote a fixed price before work starts and can split a project into phases that match a grant period or a board approval, so you fund one release at a time.

Will people with disabilities or older phones be able to use it?

That's a requirement, not an extra. We design for large text, screen readers, high contrast and older Android phones, and test with VoiceOver and TalkBack before launch.

Who owns the app and the data?

Your organization. The code lives in your repository, the app is published under your App Store and Google Play accounts, and your data stays in accounts you control. Apple offers a developer fee waiver to eligible nonprofits, and we help with the application.
