The Guardian Angel Prayer

A child's prayer — and every Christian's — to the angel God appoints to guard and guide each soul.

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Where it comes from

A medieval Latin prayer, Angele Dei, long taught to children as their first prayer after the Our Father and Hail Mary.

The Church teaches that each person is watched over by an angel; Christ speaks of the angels of little children in Matthew 18:10.
