Optional
St Jeanne Jugan
(1792–1879) Breton fisherman's daughter who carried an old blind widow home on her back and gave the woman her own bed — the beginning of the Little Sisters of the Poor. Deposed by an ambitious priest, she spent her last twenty-seven years in hidden obscurity.
Saint Jeanne Jugan, erased and content, pray that our good works survive our names.
About Ordinary Time
Ordinary Time is the Church's ordered counting of weeks — 'ordinal', not 'ordinary' in the sense of plain. It falls in two stretches, after the Christmas season and after Pentecost, and it is where most of the Gospel is read straight through, Sunday by Sunday.
Why green?
Green is worn through Ordinary Time. It is the color of growth and of hope.
Verse of the day
Eph 6:11
