Nativity of the Lord
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. The Church celebrates Christ's birth at Bethlehem with three Masses — at night, at dawn, and during the day — each with its own readings and prefaces.
Today a Savior is born to us. Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth.
A solemnity is the highest rank of celebration in the calendar.
