(c. 980–1046) Venetian monk halted in Hungary on pilgrimage to the Holy Land; King Stephen kept him, made him tutor to his son and first bishop of Csanád. In the pagan revolt after Stephen's death he was hurled from the Buda hill that now bears his name.
Saint Gerard, pilgrim detained by God, pray that we accept the mission that interrupts our plans.
About Ordinary Time
Ordinary Time is the Church's ordered counting of weeks — 'ordinal', not 'ordinary' in the sense of plain. It falls in two stretches, after the Christmas season and after Pentecost, and it is where most of the Gospel is read straight through, Sunday by Sunday.
Why green?
Green is worn through Ordinary Time. It is the color of growth and of hope.
