St Ignatius of Laconi

(1701–1781) Sardinian Capuchin brother who spent forty years as questor, begging Cagliari's streets for his friary. He refused alms from a moneylender's house; when ordered to accept, the sack dripped blood — 'the blood of the poor,' he said.

Saint Ignatius of Laconi, beggar with clean hands, pray that we take nothing wrung from the poor.
