(c. 634–687) Shepherd boy of Northumbria, monk of Melrose, prior of Lindisfarne, hermit of Farne, and bishop against his will. Bede wrote his life; the eiders he protected are still called Cuddy's ducks. His incorrupt body rests at Durham.
