St Nicholas of Tolentino
(1245–1305) Augustinian friar of the Italian Marches, a plain preacher and confessor who visited the slums and sickbeds of Tolentino for thirty years. He wept nightly praying for the souls in purgatory, of whom he is patron; bread blessed in his name feeds the sick.
